MCC honors 25 nursing students
听

麻豆映画传媒 recognized 25 nursing students during a pinning ceremony听on听December 4听in听the gymnasium on the college鈥檚 Sidney 麻豆映画传媒. The students were honored听for completing听their Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing (ADN), which prepares them for national licensure as a registered nurse.听
Kimberly Murphy,听of听Newaygo,听and Logan Tidey, of Cedar Springs,听were both听chosen by听their听fellow classmates as student representatives of the cohort.听Murphy was the designated student speaker at the ceremony.听
听鈥淓veryone watching today probably has their own idea of what a nurse is, and I think every graduate sitting here will add nuance to that picture,鈥� Murphy said. 鈥淣ursing requires curiosity, learning, and patience. Each nurse brings something a little different听to this work. You can go in every day and see your job as a list of tasks, or you can choose to build real connections with your patients, because that鈥檚 where great care starts.鈥�听
Murphy urged her cohort to invest their time into getting to know their patients on a personal level, which takes the level of care from basic to special.听
鈥淥ne thing I believe with my whole heart is that this group of graduates will not just follow the culture of whatever unit they join 鈥� they will shape it,鈥� she said. 鈥淭hey鈥檒l听be the ones who jump up to help with someone else鈥檚 call light.听They鈥檒l听make a point to check in on a fellow nurse after a brutal shift. I know this because I watched every one of them support each other throughout this program. This is a group of true team players, and听they鈥檙e听going to be incredible nurses in whatever specialty they choose.鈥�听
Murphy鈥檚 speech culminated with a round of gratitude expressed to various faculty members as she celebrated the end of the cohort鈥檚 nursing education at MCC.听
