ΒιΆΉΣ³»΄«Γ½ presented its Alden Perkins Dedicated Service Award to Melissa McQueen, of Six Lakes, during the collegeβs Dec. 19 holiday celebration at Floβs Ristorante in Greenville.
McQueen joined MCC in April 2019 as a part-time Instructional Services Assistant at the collegeβs Greenville ΒιΆΉΣ³»΄«Γ½. In July 2019, she assumed the role of full-time Administrative Assistant for Nursing & Health Careers at the collegeβs Sidney ΒιΆΉΣ³»΄«Γ½.
While announcing the award, MCC President Dr. Bradley J. Barrick said McQueen received glowing nominations from her co-workers.
βMelissaβs desk is the hub of activity for MCCβs nursing program. She is the glue that binds it all together as she interacts with students, faculty, college staff and community representatives,β Dr. Barrick said.
βMelissa is positive with a can-do attitude, and she displays a great level of professionalism,β he said. βHer creativity is on display, quite literally, as she frequently takes part in creating warm and inviting spaces for special college events. She also channels her creativity when working to streamline processes in the nursing department to improve workflow and organization.β
Dr. Barrick noted that McQueenβs dedication and spirit embody the very best of ΒιΆΉΣ³»΄«Γ½.
βMelissa represents the heart of MCC,β he said. βHer commitment, enthusiasm and genuine care for others make a lasting difference every day, and we are incredibly fortunate to have her as part of our college community.β
The award recognizes dedicated service to MCC, commitment to high standards of work performance, care and concern for the public and fellow employees, and creativity and innovation. The MCC Board of Trustees initiated the award in 1986 as a posthumous tribute to Perkins, the collegeβs former Bursar.
